Dallas Maverick Dirk Nowitski wasn’t home when police served a warrant on his friend Cristal Taylor. Taylor had been staying with the star forward for the past few months in what seems to be a close relationship. According to this article from the Dallas Morning News, however, the team and people around Nowitski are pleased to see that Taylor may be on her way out of Nowitski’s life.
Understandably, Nowitski doesn’t want to talk about Taylor or the two warrants she had out for her, for a probation violation and a theft charge. Looking into Taylor’s past one may be surprised that she was able to build a friendship with someone in the limelight like Nowitski.
Taylor seems to have had many aliases and several convictions on her records stretching back over the last few decades and across several states. The majority of her legal troubles seem to be related to financial fraud, bad checks, and forgery. Many of the charges are felonies and were prosecuted simultaneously in different counties.
She was serving 5 years probation on one of these cases that originated in 1999 when she violated probation by picking up a new charge in 2000. This violation warrant was taken out in 2001 and Taylor hadn’t been heard from since.
In addition to the violation out of Missouri, Taylor faces theft charges for a case involving unpaid dental work she received more recently in Texas. Throughout all of this Taylor had used different names, social security numbers and identities to keep her real identity a mystery.
It isn’t clear what these newest charges mean for her relationship with the Maverick’s star player but it seems if his team has its way, she won’t be a factor in his life anymore.
White collar crimes are committed by many people. It isn’t uncommon to see successful businessmen facing charges like these. Your career and social standing has nothing to do with what you would and would not do for money. Facing charges like these are very serious, however, and something that should not be faced alone.
